This is carried out as per the schedule that is provided by the manufacturer. Depending on the Km's travelled will determine the service items needed. A Log book service schedule is provided by the manufacturer to keep your vehicle in top condition. The log book service schedule can be continued on if vehicle is purchased as a used car.
Why do I need a log book service - Can't I just do the service myself?
This is a normal requirement from the manufacturer to ensure the vehicle is kept to maximum life and must be carried out by a suitably qualified mechanic. Regular maintenance is recommended, also known as preventative maintenance. This will maintain any issue that may arise if the vehicle requires any warranty work. Not maintaining the requirements may void any warranty provided by the manufacturer.
What could happen if I miss a service and the vehicle presents with a problem
Missing a scheduled service may void your warranty with a manufacturer. The manufacturer may refuse any claim on warranty due to the failure to keep up wit the recommended service. Total Automotive and 4WD recommend that you schedule your next service on collection of your car at this service.
Do you have Loan cars and how much do they cost?
We offer courtesy cars for day of work, but they must be booked at the time of booking your car in for service. There is no fee for this service. They are also available for repairs that take longer than a day, however where repairs are likely to take more than a single day courtesy cars cannot be provided unless by prior arrangement with management.
Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?
You will not void your new car warranty by bringing your vehicle to Total Automotive and 4WD for servicing. We are fully accredited by TACC and are authorised to perform scheduled services as per the manufacturer and will not void new car warranty. If a vehicle is recalled however you will need to return it to the dealership for repairs.
Manufacturers are not allowed to force you to take the vehicle back to them for servicing although they imply it keeps your vehicle warranty intact. Having your vehicle serviced by an independent workshop like Total Automotive and 4WD not only saves you money, but the whole process is more convenient without affecting your new car warranty at all. Do I need my log book? I have lost it
We recommend you check with the manufacturer to see if a replacement book can be obtained. We ca still service your car without the log book, but a log book is a handy record of your service history if you decide to sell the car.
Will I recieve a digital report of the work you have done?
On collection of your vehicle you will receive a hard copy of work undertaken and a list of items that may require replacement at a later date or may be needed when next service is undertaken. We can supply digital reports on request.
Will I receive a digital report of what is wrong
Any items that may be required will be reported on the day if urgent or supplied with recommendations to be carried out prior to or on next service.
How long will the service take?
All service times vary, dependent on the current Km's and may range from 2 hours to 8 hours depending on the current service interval. We ask that you discuss with us on booking your vehicle in for service.
How much will my service cost?
This varies from vehicle type, make, size and requirements needed. We ask that this be discussed upon booking so we can provide an estimate.
How can I pay for my Service?
Total Automotive and 4WD offer full Eftpos, Amex, Direct Transfer and Zip Pay. For the bigger jobs we are Coogans Preferred supplier for convenience
When are you Open?
We open at 7.30am Monday to Thursday. *We are closed Fridays & Weekends*
What is the earliest I can bring my car in?
If you require to discuss items prior to bringing car in we request arrival on or after 7:30am. We also offer early drop off with secure keydrop.
Will you give me reminders when my next service is due?
We are able to set you up for emailed service reminders every 6 or 12 months.
Can I drop my car off after hours
Yes we have allocated space and secure drop box. Premises has 24hr video camera surveillance
Is there a secure key drop off box after hours
Yes - If early drop off we will advise where this is located.
Can I pick up my car after hours?
Yes - Please discuss this with us upon booking
Can you pick up my car from home?
We can offer this service - Please discuss with us upon booking so we know distance from workshop so we can advise if we can offer this.
Can you drop me back home?
Please discuss with us upon booking so we know distance from workshop. If distance is too far we may be able to offer a courtesy car.
What happens if something is not right after the service?
We ask that you contact us to express your concerns.

Can my car be serviced at the same time it is being repaired?
Yes, Total Automotive and 4WD can check if your service is due and contact you to see if you would like us to undertake service while repairs are being undertaken.
How do I book my car in for a service?
We have Online Booking, you can call us, send us a message on social media or scan your service sticker (if current) and this will take you to our online booking portal.
How often should I really service my car?
Total Automotive and 4WD always suggest 6 months or every 10,000km.
I don't drive very much - Do I still need a service?
Total Automotive and 4WD recommend to have a service on a regular basis, this may be every 12 months depending on Km's travelled.
Can you fix other things whils ervice is being undertaken
Total Automotive and 4WD report any findings while undertaking your service and advise on items we can complete on the day with your approval.
Can you wash my car?
Total Automotive and 4WD provide a complimentary wash with every service.
Do you use good quality oils and parts?
Yes and have manufacturers warranty. If you prefer genuine parts this can be accommodated, please discuss upon booking in your vehicle
Do you check my brakes during a service?
Visual Inspection and Safe-T-Stop testing is carried out with every service. Printed Safe-T-Stop report is provided
